What is it with Acronyms?.
This is one of my pet hates....why do the media feel the need to state both the acronym and what it stands for?.
ie..."today the British Broadcasting Corporation, the BBC said bla bla bla".
or...." The NUT..the National Union of Teachers have fix the next bla bla bla"
Use one or the other for pity sake....

For anyone listening who might not know. When I last did some professional writing, the edit said to always use both the first time so the acronym was defined and the acronym thereafter.

That makes sense....but the media don't follow those rules....another hate is when the news states..."The PM in a speech later this afternoon will bla bla bla.
Who tells them what the topic is before even the PM has said it???
Is it me????

From many, many moons ago...
when i was a contracted employee of the public service
my fave was to use the acronym TLA whenever I could.....
it pretty well describes them all (or did anyway) IMHO
