East Sussex distillers?

Postby mushypeas » Sun Sep 14, 2014 6:14 am

hi,
I live in Eastbourne and just wondered if any members are local to me to probably meet up and share experiences etc....I have a t500 and thinking about making my own still.

Would be nice to meet someone instead ofjust chatting on here for a change.

Regards

Hi mushypeas..I'm not close to you so for me it would be a no-go. ::)
The other thing is the legal side of our "hobby", folks would be looking over their shoulders for the old bill. Image

I've been brewing beer for a long time and a beer forum that I read does have a "get together" once a year. I've had thoughts that it would be great to fix a weekend for our forum, a similar meeting for our type of drinks. Get to know the other guys and taste some of their offerings.....but who would turn up and take a chance???

I don't bother with statistics as such...but it's suprising what you can glean from them.

On the forum membership is 1168...of these I would guess that maybe 50/60 are active...(don't quote me on that, I've not counted) :D just feels like it.
I saw one member who joined back in 2013 if I remember right...last visit was only last week...never made a post...must just login and read a while. ;)

Maybe it's that, what makes us the best damn friendliest forum out there in the æther. 8)

Yes, only having twelvety active posting members does make for less in-fighting, although we do manage on occasion. :)
I would like to think that those of us that do post are offering some service to the many guests that frequent this site.
I guess that we must or they wouldn't visit.
It would be so much nicer if they chose to talk to us, and register.
Believe me people, staying anonymous does not make you anonymous.
Your ISP address is logged everywhere you go, we may not use it here, but it is now logged, just about everywhere you go.

Big Brother IS watching you. and you would have to take radical steps to drop off his radar.

The draft powers put forward by Theresa May include requiring internet and phone companies to keep “internet connection records” – tracking every website visited but not every page – for a maximum of 12 months but will not require a warrant for the police, security services or other bodies to access the data. Local authorities will be banned from accessing internet records.

Can you imagine just how much data this will generate?

It will only be useful data if you somehow flag yourself up as being 'interesting' to the authorities - otherwise it's just so much noise.

I don't think BB is that bothered about us making a few bottles....as long as we don't sell. It would cost more than what they'd make out of it.

If he did want to he could sweep us all up in no time at all....the man has bigger fish he's after. 8)

There's only one EAST Sussex though. Often referred to as God's own county ;)

no no, according to property values (all very "daily mail" and all that), the Peoples Republic is most expensive, followed by average west, followed by average east...... ;D

And no, I have no idea why that should be either........

Equally, when it was all one, which was the county town, Lewes or Chichester ?

But whatever eh ! ::) ;D
