How many pennies?

Postby fjorda » Thu May 26, 2016 3:17 pm

Hi,

Been looking into adding pennies to my air still instead of the ceramic rings but I'm not sure how many to add. I've heard a handful but that can vary of course. What do people recommend?

Thanks

Hi Fjorda and welcome to the forum.
Very important to make sure all the coins
are copper, use a magnet to check.
Some of the guys told me to cover to bottom.
I didn't have enough to do that, so have
about a dozen coins. I also use the ceramics,
they clean up ok in coke as do copper coins. :)
Rather have a full bottle in front of me
than a full frontal lobotomy

Welcome to the forum Fjorda....don't worry to much about "how many to add" any copper in the boiler will help....pennies/copper pipe rings/flat...it'll all help.

There's no set amount as long as you have some copper in the still. ;) throw in the ceramic rings also...not going to harm anything.

Welcome to the forum. Have you been distilling long?

Half the tumbler full - And a few bits of pipe if it comes to hand. Once the bottom has a good cover, you can dispense with the rings - they really are superfluous.
