Fermentation query (Alcotec Vodka Star) ?

Postby Opus 27 » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:21 pm

Just done a run with part of my Alcotec 48 wash and got the following result.

14 Litres of wash at 14-14.5%.

Reflux Head filled with 3 \"Spontex\" Stainless Steel Pan Scrubbers upto top of reflux cooling colar.

Temperature bought up to 76C on full power.

Power reduced and held at 820 Watts.

2 (Two)Litres at 92% ABV collected after throwing 80 Mls of head.

Thats a good result Opus,so you should end up with around 4.5 ltrs @ 92% for the total 34 ltr wash.Have you seen the buletin on the essencia website about some of the yeasts that are available that are to be withdrawn on health reasons?

Interesting article you found there optic, somewhat outdated tho as I believe urea was banned for this purpose some 2years or more ago, alcotec certainly haven\'t contained it for that long, dunno about ss
