She doesn't complain about the unlimited supply of vodka, and now rum so I'm sure I'll get there with the still build in the end, I haven't mentioned the fact I've spent £160 on an SD Parrot kit!!
I'm thinking maybe it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission with that lol
I also bought the SD glass parrot but that's going to be a birthday present for my Grandad, he made a bit of spirit in his time, he gave me a copy of an old booklet called "The Blue Flame" it's what all the Brits used to use out in Saudi to make their booze many years ago.

What about using the "what this old thing - had it for ages!!" answer if ever questioned.
I think it is known as the blouse method☺
Best wishes for the big day !!!

This one is a newer version then mine, mine is a photo copy of one that has been hand typed on an old typewriter with hand drawn pictures.
Look for the "Sneaky Home Still" it's a small continuos still using a soldering iron as a power source, very clever design, I bet making a bigger version would be interesting

The old one with the hand drawning's must be magic, seeing that it came from granpa... I think I see the "Sneaky" one but didn't read about it yet...there's so much about what they got up to out there.
It's going to be fun reading it...it'll take time, but who knows what we'll learn..

Re: Molasses wash for Rum
Hi all,
Firstly thanks Anarvin for the wash recipe.
just got a few questions regarding my first rum attempt:
1: I have a t500 boiler with an alembic head. do I use this head or the reflux one on the first run?
2: Do I need to do a stripping run and then a spirit run, again with which head?
3: What would you guy's age this on? ( I do have a spare bag of JD chippings)
4: If I wanted a Bacardi type rum what would I do differently?
thought i'd give this a go as I haven't been able to go over to the supplier for my malt grain for whiskey
cheers everyone.

Yes.. Yes.. Yes.. Why!
Ok a better answer yes you want the alembic head to carry some of the flavour through.
You always need at least 2 runs.
It needs some oak that will be good imo. JD oak doesn't mean you will get JD (unfortunately it not that easy)
Bicardi. Why?
