Following in your footsteps.

Well that's my T500 cherry popped... ;D

To say it was a roller coaster ride would be an understatement. The smegging temp probe leaked like f**k to start with, but I got it sealed after a while... 8)
The temperature fluctuations were out of this world, but I managed to sort it out.
So 4 hours later I finished up with just over 3 lts of 92 ABV.

To give myself something to do while the 500 did it's stuff I did a doz & half pickled eggs.....6 garlic..12 beetroot.. 8)

My temp probe leaked like hell on my first run but PTFE tape sorted it. :) I have not had a pickled egg for ages, must do some later this year when the beetroot is ready.

Pickled eggs!! It's been far too long since I've had pickled eggs. Thanks for reminding me!

Perhaps we should have a food section on the forum... :D The Swmbo & I both love to cook, infact only yesterday while I was "driving the 500" she reminded me that we have a number of bottles of white wine from a kit that didn't turn out well that she uses in cooking, what's left could go through the still for brandy for cooking. ;)

Congratulations on your first T500 run. Now you know why the pressure relief valve is important.

Did you cut the heads or just the foreshots?

Doesn't really matter if you left the heads in for one run or even a few more, you might get a bit of a headache the morning after a big session but that's all. Drinking heads long term could be a different story though.

The T500 is supposed to stop producing when it gets to the tails but I'm not fully convinced and turn it off after collecting 500ml of fores/heads and 3L of hearts. Like your still, the hearts are 92%.

If you want to show off, try burning a teaspoon of the 92%. Over the sink for safety. It burns for ages and any yellow you see, aka the devils beard, is impurities. The hardly visible blue flame is the ethanol.
