Looking for a Kraken Black Spiced Rum recipe!
I was wondering if anyone has tried replicating Kraken Black Spiced Rum? If so, how did it come out?

I'm not sure if wtfdskin on another site ever published his recipe, but you could ask him http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... n#p7434169
Alternatively, you could try Buccaneer Bob's black rum recipe and then spice it like http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 11&t=24301 but with less sugar/molasses so it's not so sweet.
Linny's recipe on aussie distiller gets good feedback, but I'm not registered there so can't see it http://www.aussiedistiller.com.au/viewt ... =25&t=3991

I think if you read thru that Oz Distiller link you'll glean enough to get a pretty good start line.

It's personal, I know.
Why would you?.
Maybe because you think that you can.
It still doesn't sink my submarine.

Robert.
I tried Kraken for the first time this Monday as it was available in Wetherspoons. I had had a few beers but it was my first short of the day. I enjoyed the first few sips with no mixer, but have to say that adding ginger ale completely neutralized it.
I find Captain Morgans a bit sweet and I know Kraken has a little aniseed/star anise involved so I'm following this thread on the subject with more interest than the last.

Just read further down the linked to post?
This is what I found, and if AD would like it removed from here, of course it will be done.

well finally having a taste testing now , i can say that im pleasantly suprised. For those that read this in the future heres what i did .... first off i made a macstill rum viewtopic.php?f=32&t=30, aged it on dominoes for about 5-7 weeks @ 65% (could go longer but it still taste great). :handgestures-thumbupleft:
watered it down to 40% with filtered water. I then took 2L @ 40% and added :
1 vanilla bean pod, split in half
1 slice of orange peel, about 2 inches long ( with the white skin removed - makes it bitter )
1 cinnamon stick
3 points of Star of Anise
3 whole cloves
1 teaspoon of Sugar
1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
After 3 days I removed the Star Anise and Cloves. After the 7th day i removed the orange peel ( should have dont this a little ealier ) After 10 days i bottled it using a funnel and a coffee filter to remove all the smaller particles. Pretty sure this will get moved to Tried and tested after a few people have tried it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Just FWIW I find Linny's method works well for creating a spiced rum, without necessarily aiming @ Kraken (much as I like the stuff.....)

Re: Looking for a Kraken Black Spiced Rum recipe!
After a bit of googling, it seems there are 11 spices/flavours in Kraken.
In addition to the ones in the above recipe, it looks like allspice, ginger, pepper, cherry, menthol and coffee may be the missing links.
