Has anyone got a suggestion for an essence that could produce a schnapps type drink with a port type flavour.

Problem is for medical reasons I\'m not allowed port. Hence the need for a substitute.

I jUst made some port out of a wine kit.

i made a 30 bottle kit of Valpoicella which has a natural sweetness.

to 750mls of wine i added about 100 ml of brandy and about 150ml of
still spirits cherry brandy. I made the cherry brandy up as the essence suggested but it tasted nothing like cherry brandy.

Its not far off port in itself but theres that dry tannin(ness) thats missing from the brew.

the final product was quite accurate but it purely down to personal taste as to the quantities above.
