I met runningman today
Always nice to meet another distiller, don't get the opportunity to discuss the hobby face to face with someone who is genuinely interested, when I've "had a couple" I do get the opportunity to talk about it (at length) with my friends who are much less interested, but I don't let that put me off
Today was nice.
We did a little sample swap, he got a bottle of the gin I ran last week, and some of the rarer botanicals for him to try out. I got a bigger bottle of his version of "Stone Colds" essence gin, and a bottle of his 12 month old flaked maize corn whiskey.
I was a little embarrassed by this, as he had been much more generous than I had, I'll make up for this the next time we see each other.
I've had a taste of both, both were excellent. The gin he gave me has a much more rounded flavour than my effort, and the corn whisky was very good too, it still has that very slight "note" that you get from drinks with sugar added, but his is much more refined than the sugar heads I've done, and had a much beter nose that anything I've done in that style, I think he has aged his using a better process - I'll need to raise my game before we meet next.
I might have to break out some of my rum to try and level the score a little
Good stuff, CC

Hi Capt
Realy enjoyed our time together today. I agree with you that it is much better talking to stillers in person than on the web. Experiences are better shared in person and its good to exchange products. "One mans meat is another mans poison". Its good to get another stillers opinion on one's products. I sincerely hope this is the start of a stillers relationship and look forward to many discussions/meets in the future. Please keep in touch.

If you get any rum from the Capt, you're a lucky chap - it's very good indeed!

Re: I met runningman today
I've had a little taste of the flaked maize again today, when I haven't been down the pub all afternoon.
I don't know what I was talking bout yesterday, I can't taste the sugar "note" any more, it really is top notch stuff, amazing flavour and smell. RM
