Hi
Hi, just found this site. I have a home made pot still that could probably be more efficient, but it works for now. I have been using the tomato paste wash for now, but it is definitely a fruit brandy by the time it comes out so I am trying the triple distilled pack from SS. My aim for now is neutral but I do plan on doing a malt run and a grape run at some point.

Re: Hi
Vodka Star Yeast is an easier way, no mess with carbon.
Always give the hardest job to the laziest person because they will always find the easiest way to do it.

Re: Hi
And another welcome from myself.
+ 1 with Chuck there.
You could help yourself maybe,by trying VS as your super yeast of choice,(less messy than one requiring carbon in the wash),or give a lentil wash a try, both produce something fairly neutral, which once efficiently carbon filtered are good.
The reflux boys have us on a neutral spirit, but they have to build down to a pot stillers level for something with flavour/taste carry through.
But they can then do both.
Personally,I would like the experience of high ABV,neutral spirit, but don't have much use for it,and so am happy to produce flavoured spirit, most of the time.
If I ever figure out an air cooled reflux,I'll give it a bash.
Robert.

my favorite wash at the moment is the lentil...look it up...makes a great neutral.

Re: Hi
I would like to make a reflux column one day, but will struggle with materials. My philosophy as a maker is to utilise as much scrap and reclaimed material as possible, and 4" copper has yet to make an appearance. My pot was built using a reclaimed 50l SS, a couple of pieces of 28mm copper and some 15mm copper. The only things I bought were a gas burner, blowtorch and a couple of copper elbows. I would rather go electric, but I often get hold of partially full propane bottles for free in my line of work.

Re: Hi
Welcome there; I know where there's some 4" copper......Unfortunately I don't want to part with it plus, I'm at the other end of the world anyway.
