Anti foam

For my first two washes I've been using with great results the distillers conditioner which came with my T500 from top shelf. I can see it says silicon antifoam on the label.........does anyone buy it in larger (cheaper) sizes or does everyone use the knob of butter trick?

I was wondering whether the stuff they sell on evil bay for putting in hot tubs is the same (safe) stuff? Just musing as I start my second wash through the beastie

I use the wife's cooking oil just a few drops of
corn oil.

I have never used any anti foaming agent.
Never had cause to complain.

I also have never used an antifoam agent. Was there a need for it, or did you just use it because it was there? If foaming is a problem, try and determine why and eliminate the cause, rather than adding another ingredient to an already toxic wash.

I just used it because it came with the still to be honest....I've not used it since. I now degas by racking into the boiler from a height :-)

It's a definite problem for Airstill users

Copper coins/offcuts are all I add.

I use copper to Mash and lots of it. Found some large
headed copper felt tacks on the bay, it was about £2.50
for a large bag, enough to run 3 stills.
I have only had one puke caused by a worn out seal.
Out of precaution I add a tsp cooking oil.
Yes Brewhunter Crispn Dry is good.

Seems to be a contentious issue.
I maintain/have experienced that a cleared wash, even in an Airstill, only needs some copper in the bottom.
But if your method works for you, then I won't knock it.

Is this just a description thing?
Are some of us calling it foaming and some calling it puking but the issue is the same?

If so the solution is the same.
