The first shall be last !
The whole site is due a revamp, particularly the forums, but I ended up getting involved with some other site development projects that were paying jobs so once again this one was neglected. If I made any money here then I\'d be able to devote more time to it but as it is I lose money each month from the costs - nothing too drastic - and I\'m the sole breadwinner at the minute so any work coming in has to take priority. Rest assured, I\'ll do it as soon as I can!

Jimmy have you thought about introducing a facility for people to contribute financially? Lots of \'free sites\' do it and apparently people actually do contribute. Worth a thought, you might be surprised!

Hate to be difficult but have to admit I prefer threads to run as they are. If I refer back to a subject thread, which I often do, I like to read through it chronologicaly to follow the vavrious trains of thought. If I want to see the latest post I just click for the last page in that thread.

I would offer up a little to help the site as the site has helped me.

I agree here, dont mess with the flow of a thread.
.
Jimmy, its your site and you must do what you think is best, but........
PHPBB3 has a lot to offer and is easy (and free) to setup.

I think we have to keep sight of the fact that this is an un-funded forum run by someone from their home while they hold down a full time job. This means that the site has been run on a pretty informal bases with as few rules and obligations as possible. It has helped me over the last 12 months improve my abilities in this hobby and I have never had difficulty following responses to queries. While I agree that change can often help I don\'t believe in Change for the sake of change however. I hope that I\'m not being to controversial and I acknowledge this just my opinion.

PHPbb3 shows threads that have replies with a big red mark.
It doesnt mess with the flow but its easy to see where the new post's are.
I run www.cdtcars.com.au its a very quiet forum due to the lack of cars available but thats another story.
If you join and mark all forums as read then come back a couple of days later you will see what I mean.
I would be more than happy to help financially and tech wise (donate button - but it costs nothing really)
But its down to Jimmy to make the move.
.
aidanmac - pm any questions and I will do my best to help otherwise just start a new thread.

It\'ll get done, and I\'ll do it in the way that suits as many people as possible! Then, if it\'s half decent, I\'ll open up a way for people to donate. As it is, I wouldn\'t be comfortable doing that because I don\'t think the site is up to scratch. Got a week off work so we\'ll see what I can manage - I am aware of the issues with things, don\'t worry.

I think this is a brilliant site; as is!
Many other users have said that they have learned all they need to know by just expending the effort of trawling through the various messages shared here.
Nothing has ever been gained except by effort.

Well, I\'m pretty happy with thing, and am equally aware that different forum software works in different ways, so am quite happy to go with the flow.
Also, as someone who floats around many smaller forums, am also happy that they can take up considerable time, especially to produce tables and spread sheets that will calculate.
So while there\'s potential for all sorts of things, I like the intimate/small group feel and that there\'s probably good reason to stay below the radar........
Just my two pence worth.
regards
P.
