Wilko's Demijohns

Postby Benoit » Fri Sep 25, 2015 9:40 pm

Just noticed that wilko have knocked a couple of quid off their demijohns, or at least they have online...now a fiver for a 4.5l. There's a few bits of their homebrew kit with some price reductions at the mo, maybe clearing out ready for Xmas gear?

Any price reduction is good.

However, I get my DJ's from old brewers with the promise they get some product back for the lifetime I use the DJ's, depending on the number of DJ's I get. It works out well for the both of us. I have to keep a log of who gave me what!

What a good idea. I have split the product when someone brings a load of fruit or similar.

Funnily enough - one instance was bitter-sweet(?)...

A lovely, lovely man who was a really keen brewer in his day gave me quite a chunk of his brew gear with no condition attached - it was a gift. He was getting rid because he has terminal cancer.

I returned four of his demi-johns full of vigorously fermenting fruit wines and his eyes were like Christmas Day and the jars went straight on his old fermenting bench. He was really giddy with excitement. He was unbridled with pleasure.

Then his wife banned me from visiting him - apparently she doesn't like alcohol in 'her' house. They've been married like 40+ years...'her' house(!).

A Yorkshire saying "Queer Folk".

Just attempting to view that from another perspective -
Married 40+ years and losing your spouse imminently to cancer.
You might look around for something to blame.
You may also not be on top of the game, emotionally or rationally.
Just a thought.

Robert.
There is no ONE way.
