Making a degasser?

Evenin folks,

I need a degasser and won't get one in time for when I need it. But I have a length of plastic approx 7 mm diameter by approx 70 cm(plastic pole used for Louvre type blinds).
If I attach a piece of plastic strip such as a bastardised cable tie would this suffice?

I don't have an electric whisk only a hand one and not using that, I'd be wrecked!

I use a hand whisk, albeit quite a large one from Ikea - whatever you can use to agitate the wash and get the gas out should be fine. Even letting it splash about while you syphon helps!

You could use that plastic rod with say 3 inches cut off and cross tied with cable clips to make a 'cross' and then use an electric drill I presume
I use drill with a stick degasser but a brewers paddle would work too

Hi folks

I just use my plastic spoon attached to my electric drill and give it a good blast, remembering to reverse the drill every now and again. It works great on my sugar wash and wines.

I have never found the drill degassers to be effective - perhaps my drill isn't fast enough. Its particularly problematic with white wines.

The best method I have found is to decant 5 litres at a time into a 25 litre fermenter with a narrow lid and physically shake the gases out. Its hard work and I probably waste a litre in the process but it works.
