Spent Saturday afternoon contemplating the intended 'new' layout and arrangement of my rig in my new workshop and after two hours of farting about I had achieved/decided absolutely nothing, I just couldn't get the brain in gear ::)

Thankfully I was able to get the plans down on paper this morning. It's not that it is complicated or anything it's just me being me :D

Have just racked off a batch of elderflower cider (for Mrs H). I made up some Drambuie yesterday, and I'm planning to enjoy that whilst watching the F1. ;D

BTW I did a test last Sept with my juicer and 10lbs of Rooster spuds. I got loads of juice and a pile of potato pulp.

While I heated the juice to 50oC I put the pulp into another pot with 5lt of warm water and as a sparge. I strained this mix into the potato starch and added 1 tsp of powdered Alpha Amylase and 1/4tsp Gluco Amylase which converted all the starch to sugars.

I used the Tincture of Iodine test to make sure there were no starches left.

that's as far as I took it and added the liquid to a standard wash I was mixing at the time and I had intended to do a full wash from spuds this year but haven't gotten around to it. ::)

I worked my ring off doing farm maintenance in 35 deg C (shade temp)then, like an epiphany, I called in my ancestral 'rights'....it is St Patricks Day afterall

so the stout and whisky have taken me to here and beyond (ie bedtime.... ;D)

With the help from chill, and mooge I blended my first sambucca using anise essential oil and blended my first gin using chill's recipe minus a couple herbs that I couldn't find but I got the most important ones. Can't wait to taste the results. Thanks fella's for the help

Attn: Edwatters

I make 3 different heat levels of chili vodka. The first two levels I just add 1 and/2 chilis to the vodka and let sit for a couple of months. The hot pot is a combination of Szechuan peppers that are normally used in a hot pot cook up. Would send some pics if I knew how.

Made the cuts on a turbo wash,, blended and trying a sample,,
I have to get some JD chips somewhere,, somehow I ended up with 3 spirit runs and turned out 5.4 l # 40% so at approx 23 $ spent on sugar, turbo yeast, filter I am saving approx 200 dollars >:D

Mashed/sparged and kicked off fermentation on 2x 20l new FSW washes...all promising
Bottled 25l of K&K homebrew beer....tell you in a couple of months

I put a yeast starter on last night for pitching this evening. Came down the stairs this morning and the buggers (yeasties) must have had some party during the night and have overflowed the 3lt jar I normally grow my starters in. Lovely malty aroma around the house ::) don't know if SWMBO will enjoy the aroma as much as me though! :D
