Took the plunge, bought a T500 boiler and liebig/pot head.
waiting on get er brewed to figure out that they sell T-500 boilers on their own, copper domes on their own, copper domes and alembic pot still attachment as a combination, but not pot still attachment without copper dome and I only want the boiler and still head but not the dome ie £290 for boiler and still head

Re: Waiting ...
I've seen the boilers for sale for £180 on their own in the past, if I where you I would seriously think about making your own pot head and Liebig, you can get a lot of copper for that sort of money, enough to learn and practice soldering and make something out of it and still have change.

Re: Waiting ...
Thanks all.
The boiler is £178 which is less than most sites after a recent increase and the condenser is £112.
Delivery will be free compared to £20 from England to Ireland if using an England based site.
I realise the head/liebig is on the expensive side for what it is, but considering it'll fit right on the T500 boiler with no faffing around and includes the water hoses and connections etc. I think it works out well for me.

Just check the condensor comes with the screw in part and seal, I was under the impression you needed to use the one that comes with the T500

I wonder how much difference the dome would make?

I'm reasonably optimistic that my washes are clean enough and (usually) well enough de-gassed that sulphites won't be a major issue.
I may buy a dome later, but I think they're a lot of money for what they are, even compared to the big mark up on the boiler and head/liebig. The dome really is literally a copper cake mixing bowl with a hole in it.

Yep I feel the same it's a big chunk of money but I may do as you have and buy the Liebig first and see how it goes

I wouldn't bother with the copper dome, I bought the T500 lid for my Grainfather, used it a few times for stripping, the only advantage I can think of is if you have a heavy or offset column, the shape of the dome will probably add more strength to hold the weight of the column and keep it straight.

So would just the condenser, on its own, be okay for whiskey and/or rum? I want to be able to use my T500 for this as well as making neutral and don't mind buying the copper dome if it makes a better product but obviously don't want to waste money if I could get away with just buying the condenser.

I have no problems with rum and can't foresee issues with whiskey.
I would imagine that contact with the increased amount of copper would be a good thing and the increased height of the dome over the standard T500 lid possibly has a benefit too, but I'd think the difference is pretty small.
I am still undecided if I'll ever get one. I'll probably wake up one day and discovered I ordered one the night before
