Yes Mash, and I'm aware there are others like you here.
Which causes me to ponder why, other then the newest of the new distillers, others aren't on the same track

Why? Cost, space, lack of water source, lack of drainage, etc. It is not that I don't WANT a larger/better still. But I manage to make some pretty good drink with what I have.

+1 turdbo - what a wonderful expression!

I'd love to run a bigger still (there are plans in the offing) but I'm very impressed with what I've got out of my AirStill. I do filter, but my wheat washes complete in 5 days, I get around 4l of AirStill-grade spirit out of a 25l wash and I'm having great fun playing with gins. I wouldn't go back to a turdbo - too smelly!

This hobby, which must be where almost all posters here are,is just that.
No hard and fast rules, no-one looking over your shoulder, some stuff works, some doesn't.
Find what works for you, and if you care, share.
Maybe if it doesn't work, share also.
You are here for fun, or should be.
I stated a few posts back that I had re-visited Turbos, and will not do so again.
Other long term members here, whose opinions I respect, are happy to use them for a neutral.
As they say, opinions are like arse-holes, everyone has one.
I will defend anyone's right to distill whatever they are happy with.
And not criticise them for doing so.
I will do what I can to ensure this site remains active to help anyone with any question or problem that they have, whether we can help or not!

Interesting I didn't read the post as being about upgrading stills. Just about optimising the product and the process.

I don't fancy a wet still and have to confess to being a timer and forget it guy and don't see that happening with any other still design. (yet)

Just info, my VodkaStar with 6kg of sugar has finally finished when I checked it today, I kept the temp a 21°c so it was always going to take longer than the 6 day it says on the packet.

It's taken 12 days at 21°c, hopefully it will make a better product :-)
