Alcotec TRIPLE STILL
Just bought one of these from my local HB shop.
I know there are quite a few posts about \'SS triple distill\'
but not seen any posts about this one. Anyone tried it?

Just searched this one,and from what it says it looks like it produces the same as a SS triple, and from the same amount of sugar, maybe 1kg less i think.7 day fermentation, and around 14%abv wash.

OK guys I Have just started it. Will let you how it goes!
It comes in two packs, one is the yeast/nutrient the other is liquid carbon.
Ambient temp here is about mid 20\'s at the moment.
Ciao.

If you read the blurb about the Vodka Star, it was, apparently, originally developed to give a pure distillation with a pot still.
So I\'m guessing that it\'s the Alcotec answer to the SS triple distilled type yeast pack.....

It\'s now two days since I pitched the yeast.
Unlike the Alcotec 48 this one never produced a thick foam.
However, the wash temperature is currently 28C as compared to the ambient temp of about 22C. It is fizzing away steadily and shows no sign of slowing down yet.
Will keep you informed.
CIAO.

Now at three days. The ambient temperature here is above 25C after two days of cloudless sky. The Alcotec web site advises against going above 25C so I have a wet bath towel over the bucket and a large fan to cool things down, also have prepared some large water bottles in the freezer just in case.
It is still fizzing away like mad, but no foam. The level has gone down a half litre already, so looks like a lot of CO2 has been expelled so far.
According to the website, this yeast was introduced in July 2006 and should produce 14% in 7-9 days as Marc said.

Fourth day -- still fizzing away. Wash temperature (23C) now about the same as room temperature (24C) Third day of cloudless skies. Using the wet towel to maintain. Went out in my \'black\' car earlier for supplies. Air-con has packed in! Phew.

Hey Ronbo. I tried the Alcotec triple. It was not as smelly as the SS triple but no where near as clean as Vodka Star which gets my vote every time

Six days now and it is starting to slow down. Wash temp is 24.5C ambient is 24C
Hi Lyonacre, yes I did ask at the local HB for Vodka Star but they did not stock it, so they have ordered me some which I will use next time.
Will probably take a SG measure tomorrow to see where it\'s at!
Ciao guys.

I usually use the Alcotec brand of Triple distilled as its cheaper to buy (are all distillers tight wads?) and its the one I sell for the same reason. The Still Spirits and the Alcotec come from the same factory (or blending house) and the Still Spirits is the better quality although they both do the job.
The difference in sugar - 6kg and 7kg will be down to the fact that the Still Spirits reccomend dextrose which is 91% sugar and 9% water and the more canny Swedes use normal domestic sugar. So you need an extra kg to up the fermentables content.
I\'m also going to stock the Vodkastar after testing it - any excuse to play with stunningly fabby toy (thats my Smart Still before you start thinking....) but the supplier is out of stock for a few weeks. Do any of you guys use a carbon sachet with it?

I have used the turbo carbon with a SS Triple i used before, cleanest wash i ever had,the distillate collected was pretty good also.Havent used the Alcotec triple though.
The cleanup afterwards isnt so bad,no more than you would normally do,puts some people off for some reason.
Yes Ellie some distillers ARE tight-arse\'s!!until they cut one too many corners i suspect!!For the sake of a couple of dollars, hell youre making cheap booze already.haha

Alcotec TRIPLE STILL
Day seven.
Just took a SG measurement. It started out 1.103 (7kG Sugar) and is now 1.1003. That is about 13.2% ABV However it is still fizzing away quite well, so my intention is to leave it and try again in two days time.
Couldn\'t agree more about the black sludge, it is a b**ger to clean out afterwards, but does result in cleaner spirit.
Ciao.
