So I have the small collection system from still spirits it. Only goes to 1000ml so to collect 1350ml I just collect 1000ml then 350ml ?

Most people use glass or stainless steel jugs for collection or jam jars, etc. marked for volume with a permanent marker - cheap & cheerful

The thing that comes with the Airstill is OK for measuring water

So I read guide if I wanna do this how do I do it with just two gallons of wash??

Just strip it 4lt at a time and collect from each run until the output drops below 20%ABV. You'll need to use a trial jar or a parrot to determine this point.

When you've combined the distillate from all stripping runs you will have a volume at a particular strength, possibly around 40-50%. You then have to reduce that strength By diluting it to 30%ABV.

Once all that is done you fill the Airstill with 4lt of the stripped and diluted low wines and run again this time making cuts according to your own taste and nose plus the guidance given here and the booklet called Spirit Cuts for Beginners which you can find under Resources.

You're getting on the right road and once there you'll be very happy you did.

Been reading it, very good how to do that sinks in really well.

Need advice now on the best wash for an Airstil. Oh and if anyone knows the best place to buy boil enhancers and distillers conditioner?

Don't worry so much about "best". Make a wash, run it, start learning. Any variation on the lentil wash is a good place to start.

Brilliant choice.

Any shop or petrol station. Seriously save all your 1p and 2p's ..... the ones that ARE NOT magnetic make brill boil enhances. You need half a whiskey tumbler.

I don't use conditioner. Never have.

The malted wheat wash always comes good.

OK to use flat or do the need bending?

I did not bend mine. Bent is probably better if you go that way.

hmmmm i see my post didnt appear

i use some 15mm copper pipe cut into 8mm wide (like copper olives) squash them
flat,a good handfull,for distillers conditioner your local homebrew shop should
stock it,as for wash i use either vodka star or tomato paste wash,(not tried lentil wash yet)
if you gonna use pennys bend them in half so they like a right angle
if they flat they will stick on the bottom off airstill

Got my secondhand smartstil today and want to start off nice and easy..... Would this be good to use for my first wash? "Alcotec Triple Still Turbo Yeast"


If crap any others to try please?
