Not a Good Day
Been a beer brewer for a long time. Bottles is me, not interested in kegging and what's involved.
Anyway have strived for a long time to get as close as possible to having my store of around 160 750ml bottles loaded and ready to go. Finally achieved it on Christmas last.
House move on the cards but not too much happening, no worries, although we had a contract in place....suddenly lawyers went back to work and BANG, sold! 13 days to get out and while we knew where we wanted to move to, nothing lined up there either. Never mind, just get on with it...
Soooo, my beer stock. Could be a problem. There was. On a stinking hot day a bottle of black current stout let rip. Problem solved, around 140 bottles various beers poured onto the driveway. Heavenly smell, but I really wanted to cry.
Onwards and upwards.

Sounds to me like a back current hand grenade. Oh dear.
Look on the bright side. Now you have a reason to get a braumeister!

There would be much hair pulling and gnashing of teeth...and a few rude words if that happened to me....just the thought of all that lovely beer running down the drain is the stuff of nightmares.

+1 and a good stock of glassware & caps gone. I have 12 crates which took quote a bit of bottle bank dipping to fill. The tops are much easier to replace.

Bugger that sounded really good. Like a framboise made with currents? My suggestion would be to make another batch of something and dedicate it to it's memory. A new batch that would not have happened but for the accident.
On the plus side you are closer to a few of us in Wellington so we can organise a get together or a best of all a distillers camp.

Re: Not a Good Day
@ Iceman, when the removalist's truck pulled away there was still a rather unique smell lingering in the drive....
@Mash, that's only the second bottle of home brew I've ever lost this way
In fact the first was a ginger beer (alcoholic of course) back in 2000 when I was in process of shifting from Townsville to Port Moresby. The empty bottles travelled with the furniture this trip - worked too hard to get them together in the first instance.

@Robert, depending on your POV, that's the upside/downside of living in isolation in the country
@Mr FS, oh it'll be made again. The ones knocked off at Xmas made it a certain to repeat. Your final thought had not escaped....now we're in relative civilisation and don't have a 4 hour drive just to escape bloody Jaffaland...

Sorry to hear of your loss.
Section 68 does not apply ... in an individual’s private house or dwelling place, but only if and as long as the beer, wine, or spirits are manufactured exclusively for the individuals personal use and not for sale or other disposition to any other person
