You don't sound like a fan Robert.
I made a whiskey with black tea. It came out very well. I think the flavours in tea are quite surprising and still to be discovered.

hampk wrote:Here's one for you to try - juniper, coriander and angelica, in whatever proportions float your boat, plus the contents of a teabag.
I ran that in 500ml 40% neutral diluted to 1L, collected 375ml, WOW!

Re: AirStill Gin
It is not much of a recipe. To my basic everyday gin recipe, I added 0.7g crushed black pepper and 1.5 tsp of ground very fresh Turmeric. Then I distilled it. To the distilled result I then added 1 tsp of ground very fresh Turmeric and about 1/4 tsp of freshly ground black pepper. I let that macerate for a couple of hours and then strained though coffee filters. Everyone who has tried it has been impressed and the bottle is now gone. It is definitely "different" and will permanently stain anything it is spilled on. I doubt this would be good with the ordinary sort of Turmeric you can get at Indian stores and such. This has a very funky, earthy, pungent smell and is closer to orange than yellow.

[quote="Mash"]You don't sound like a fan Robert.
The point I was clumsily trying to make,due to the late hour and level of imbibement, was that you can take virtually any old spirit and by rectifying with botanicals produce a decent gin, of which I am indeed a fan.

Re: AirStill Gin
The REALLY good bit, as well as the speed, but the recipes are scaleable.
I am also working on some 60% ers.
