You are in good company mate, Most of us like to think that we do know what we are doing.
I believe that those of us with an honest streak would admit to having a lucky one also.
Many times stuff comes right for me, unpredicted.
And experimentation is the key.............
Robert.

Re: Soreen Wash
I added 1kg by refractometer to get to a projected 12%
Let's see.
The old rule of one bag to the gallon rings true.

Re: Soreen Wash
I've been away in Kernow for a week. During my holiday, the UK population succumbed to some bizarre brainwashing trick conducted by a tosser who, having achieved his sole political aim, might as well go and drown in a keg of Burton's best. I'm currently considering finally applying for my dual nationality Irish citizenship, thanks to my paternal Grandmother. I honestly though the world had gone mad.
Now I find we are fermenting maltloaf? Really?! I thought there was only one use for maltloaf, namely eating with lots of butter
Mash - do let me know how your kale and maltloaf wash turns out. I'm honestly not sure what a Soreen is going to add to an already excellent neutral!!

Re: Soreen Wash
Lmao Thank-you.
I couldn't bring myself to waste the kale. Just did a 5l/25g/1kg/b1
Looks like a bucket of bubbling vomit. Having said that vomit has never smelled so good

Re: Soreen Wash
Nothing to do do with Soreen, but maybe to do with fermentation, a friend that does the whole Social Networking thing, (which I don't, where do they find the time?) tells me that after the referendum, with Ireland possibly uniting again as a result of the same, and Scotland striking out to remain in Europe, we are are left with Wales and England excluding London,in union voting to leave.
The name for this new union, with little more than currency in common?
Poundland.
Now that was a ROLFLMFAO moment for me
Robert.

I am not putting my hydrometer in THAT !!
Seriously never do - I use a refracto. but I can tell you the brix was 20 so the OG will be about 1085-90 (at a guess)

Re: Soreen Wash
Just did a stripping run with the airstill. Early indications are that it may have an interesting subtle flavour.

Don't tell me - let me guess - maltloaf? I'm still trying to get my head around why anyone would want to ferment maltloaf!
