I cut around the edge with a Stanley Knife
very carefully and took my time.
As it seals at the top with a rubber o
ring, I just emptied it cleaned and
refilled with carbon.Then just pushed
the top back on. Its working fine, no
carbon deposits in mmy neutral.
Don't forget to soak the filter B4 fitting,
I think that is to stop airlocks.

Hi gaza, tried all that no chance.
this is quite a recent filter so im guessing they are covering them with lots of glue now ,looks like some kind of superglue, anyway that does not really mater now as banging it on the carpet has split the sealing lip so i have had to order another £28 what a rip off no wonder they glue them on so hard.
what i shall do on the next one is just cut the plastic spiders legs off with a knife and leave the glued rim in place tip out the old carbon and just refill it that way.ive read somewhere you need not to cover the carbon anyway as it serves no purpose (only for transit ect) correct me if im wrong chaps.
part of the plastic spider remains even though i stripped it,i cannot get it off with anything about 3 inches or so i guess, its like its part of the shell its so solid.so beware when trying to dismantle DO NOT bang it on things the lip will break, just cut spiders little legs off with a sharp knife and lift off the fliter mesh and bin it.leave the glued on part where it is.
lesson learned here it was not even ready for changing i was just practising lol (Doh )

From what I have read, Essencia beefed up the glue used to fix the 'spider' a while back, probably after someone got wise to the fact that it was easy to remove and refill the cartridge.

It's still easy to refill the cartridge, just remove the spider and dispose of it! It's not necessary during operation of the filter, I think it just serves to keep the carbon in place during shipping.

My Essencia has been spider-free for over a year with no ill effects.

Cheers

Thats what I said, now all you have to do is cut through the
legs of the spider. Hacksaw, sidecutters ??

"Use something sharp.
They don't let Me have anything sharp, only sponge, do you like sponge?"

A little homage to Alexi Sayle there, who was funny, back in the 1980's.

Ha ha you were lucky. They only let me have a spoon
on Saturdays. Tonight we have spaghetti. ;D ;D

Forgive me, I edited your typo.

Good to see someone with a similar sense of humour.
More than pleased that your facility allows you something as sharp as a spoon :)
