Haven't seen it, pretty cool.
But I suspect that what they mean by "working on making it more efficient" is the same problem we have with hydrogen fuel, you need a lot of electricity to break the bonds, and unless the electricity comes from renewable sources like solar or hydro, then you end up burning more carbon in the production than you offset with using the new fuel.
