How many threaded connectors are you getting? I am assuming that they are for either a removable head or removable center section.

adapter also I've got a stainless steel sink waste
drain

What size will I need to make the coil would brake
pipe be ok or is that too small

The 54mm adapters I got from JTM Plumbing were brass. I thought I'd err on the side of caution and replace them with tri-clamp fittings. (I have yet to start building my Boka, waiting for warmer weather )

I have never used brake pipe but I am reliably informed that, if you have a good water pressure (ie you are taking it from the mains and not from a storage tank in the loft), brake pipe should be OK, make sure it is the pure copper variety and not one of the alloys that are also available.

@jed it did cross my mind whether it would be brass or copper
but i will email them about before i place order

@yhb yeah my water comes from the main pipe now we done away with
the tank in the loft,also i got a mate who works on caravans maybe i can
get some small copper pipe of him this is used for gas appliances in caravans

If you still have a leaning towards the threaded connectors then here is some food for thought.

Consider the connection to the boiler;

The threads of the brass connector are isolated from vapour by your stainless steel sink connector.

The socket at the other end of the connector is isolated from the vapour by the copper pipe.

The amount of brass actually in contact with the vapour is relativly small, this small area can be isolated from the vapour by "tinning" it with solder leaving no brass in contact with the vapour.

As I said, ony food for thought.

ok just an update

i seem to be having trouble locatating the 2" male/female adapters in copper
the nearest place where i can get them is usa
anyway while looking at some threads on here about someone saying where they got
their stainless steel needle valve,so i googled the site and was amazed to what i found so instead of using copper male/female adapters il think i use stainless
steel whats your thoughts on them

(hex nipple for the lid and one end off the offcut 2" copper tube)

(half socket for the other end of the offcut 2" copper tube with hex nipple and the other half socket going onto the boka)

im thinking i might have to change the 2" copper tube for a 54mm copper tube
so these hex nipple and half sockets will fit inside the 54mm copper tube so it can be welded
whats your thoughts please

Personally I'd take the view that any threaded connection is a potential leak point, too easily damaged, and an unnecessary complication which I would avoid by using tri-clamp fittings and gaskets. They made my build simple - in the end

cheers aiden i must admit your option sounds better then mine
but just a queery whats the differance between EDPM joint ring
and a solid PTFE joint ring,i know the EDPM is cheeper then the
other,is this safer to use then the PFTE one

EPDM or PTFE is just personal choice. Both are chemical and heat resistant. My choice was based on advice received that EPDM, being slightly softer the PTFE, provides a better seal between tri-clamp fittings because it will compress as the clamp is tightened whereas the PTFE won't.

I'm the wrong guy to ask about needle valves as I run a VM with no need for such complications - got to keep it simples for me

My entire VM column, including the 350mm condenser head, is 1.7m. However, my original column was copper but after a minor accident it got badly dented so I decided to go for stainless steel pipe instead.

Copper is reckoned to be almost required in a column and mine is packed with copper mesh to help keep my distillate nice and clean. I also discovered, from my friendly engineer, a very simple way to Silver Solder the ferrules to 2" stainless tube using no more than a MAPP gas torch and my connections are almost seamless plus I was able to do them myself in a few minutes.

Connecting the SS ferrules to copper pipe requires Silver Soldering and you need serious heat for that. I got a friendly engineer to do mine originally.

Tri-clamps are the way to go, convenient, easy to assemble and clean and virtually indestructible. After that it's just a choice of whether to go for copper or stainless tubing.
