Amaretto
i found a nice Recipe for Amaretto on another forum thought i would post it here. I tried this today and its REALLY good. I only made 2.5 liters (i cut the values in half and worked great).
The bonus for anyone in UK Sainsbury's sells everything you need
Heres the quantities used to get just over 1 Gal (5L):
1.2L Boiling water
1Kg Brown Sugar
250g White refined Sugar
250g Unrefined Molasses Sugar
3.2L of 40% vodka
8 Tablespoons Almond Extract
2 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
1 Tablespoon glycerine (for a little body)
Heat the sugar and water to just below boiling point.
Allow to cool to body temperature.
Add the vodka, extracts and glycerine and store together in a 5L Demijohn...

Hate to be a pain in the A**s, here is the problem, where did the recipe originate?
1 IMP TBSP = 17.7ml
1 US TBSP = 14.7ml
1 AUS TBSP = 20ml
When you buy an English tablespoon, there is no standard - size wise.
I always use millilitres to bring a standard to my recipes.
