Aquarium Heater

Postby Sonnyinbc » Thu Jan 15, 2015 8:20 pm

Bought a 100watt (Marina Brand) heater and have another on order/should arrive next week. Love this little gadget, can set the temp with a twist of the knob on top.

Had it set at 26C and that didn`t do it. So changed it to 28C and just checked for the second time today (using my torpedo therm) and the wash is bubbling away nicely at 21C. I will probably always check it twice daily during the winter because of the temp flux outside. Daytime here has been ranging from 4c up to 11c. And night can go from 0C up to 8C.

Thanks again for the expert advice.

if you can wrap the fermenting bins in a old sleeping bag
or duvet this will keep it a bit warmer

These (mostly) Chinese made aquarium heaters are as cheap as chips, just don't rely upon the dialed in temperatures!

@Magnu420: Good alcohol deserves the best sleeping bag. Not some raggedy arse thing.
