Shocked by sugar prices AGAIN!

Postby lyonacre » Thu Sep 22, 2011 2:48 pm

Hey,

Out of stock so went to top up only to find that sugar prices have gone up even more!

Costco is £1 per kilo as are the other cash and carries I have access to. Couple of special offers but they are out of stock.

Best I managed to find was £0.82 per kilo while stocks last.

Eventually happened on a special offer in Tesco - 2KG bag for £1.59 so .79 per kilo

Haven't bought sugar since I got a couple of 45gal drums of it for free last year or so. Funny thing is, I've got two other guys distilling and of course they're using my sugar so I'm almost out now! :(
Price here is anywhere from $1.97 to $3.25 for a 2kg bag depending on sales. Don't know the conversion rate but if it's 2 to 1 or so then I guess here it's 1 to 1.50 pounds per kg. (don't have the pound stirling sign)

My local Tesco has the 5Kg bags (which are normally much dearer per Kg) down to £3.99 per 5Kg or 79p/Kg.
Emptied the shelf of the 10 bags they had.

What's Costco like by the way? I joined another cash and carry locally (no fee thankfully) and it was rubbish, in my comparisons all the prices were no better than Morrisons! Is Costco worth the annual fee?
