Here might be good idea. Seen this online browsing.
Add bucket and run through 3 gallons at once. Set it and leave it. Replace carbon every 3 gallons.

It looks a nice concept but there appears to be lot's of plastic of unkown types, that may or may not be resistant to high strength alcohol and leach chemicals into your product.

By that reasoning, you shouldn't be able to buy a packet of cigs at your local corner shop.

"Some" plastics are not a good mix with alcohol, other I believe are fine. The question is whether the man who is turning a profit selling a product that he knows fine well is going to be used by an outlaw, is more interested in that profit or your long term health.

As you can see from the picture it's basically a pipe with a container at the top, it's pretty easy to make something from materials you "know" are safe, rather than hoping someone is looking out for you.
I'm not saying that product is unsafe, neither is YHB, but I don't know what it's made from, and that may be a problem.

We all make our own choices, I'm against telling anyone what to do or not do, it's just something you might want to consider.

For sure. Back in the day all i ever used as a filter was a few coffee filters and a funnel. Just fill jars up and save them for later. Never ever used charcoal filtering. It does look like a sink sprayer hose to me but I'm not 100% sure it be safe or not ether. Besides on another basis we mostly all ferment in plastic 55gallon barrels. I prefer glass tho. Just like those ez filters made for this. Who know if they even safe. High alcohol will eat any kind of plastic regardless.

There are always options for other materials, have a look at this post of a glass filter that one of the members made and costs a lot less than the Carbon Snake.

Why even bother like that. Not that hard to filter solids from distillate's from my experiences. Taste and cleanest just the same.

most folks using carbon are using it to clean up\remove the flavour, trying to make a neutral vodka type product using a pot still.
If you have a rectifying column you don't need to do this, likewise if trying to make flavoured product with a pot still, carbon filtering would be counter productive.

I just use the funnel and coffee filter process when bottling up to remove any wood debris or other "bits".

I use an essencia for neutral but refill the carbon catridges myself

Thats the only plastics I let get in contact and only at 40%

plastics and alcohol not a good mix just because they say its safe.... just think horsemeat
