Power Connection Question

Postby lll_0_mike_0_lll » Thu Jun 20, 2013 6:57 pm

This may be dumb question but is it possible to run the T500 without the ground. I'm talking about the round third prong on the plug. I like to use it out here in the shed, but there is no ground on the plug out here. I ran it before with the ground no problem. ???

If you are hoping for a dumb answer I think you may be out of luck.

The ground or earth is there for a very good reason, I do not think you will get many people telling you to ignore it.

Please do not take risks.

Let me see... liquid that conducts electricity... electricity. Yep, I'd want the ground myself. Can you just replace the plug? When I moved into my house most of the plugs were old with no ground. But the box was grounded so adding a proper plug resolved the problem. And yes, a properly qualified electrician confirmed this. ;D

I agree. This I could do. Like you said this house is old and so is the shed. Very old wiring back then. I could run new wire to the shed no problems. I have even seen the single hot wire running in this house. You know the kind runs on those insulator type. Maybe back in 1940's this was ok.

Single hot wire. OK, you have me beat! Mine was not that old, it was proper two wire. Oddly almost the entire house was done in nomex so the shield was the ground. Running a new wire sounds like a good idea to me.
