ok guys ive bought a liebig 30" column 2" copper pot head with a condensor,just waiting on a boiler now,just wondering any guides or tuts about using this liebig

I hate to tell you this but there's no such thing as a Liebig column. What you have there is a Pot Still riser and Pot Still head connected to a Liebig condenser.

Over on HD you'd probably get hung, drawn and quartered for such a basic mistake but we all have to learn sometime so we don't do that here on StillSmart the friendliest distilling forum on the planet.

The cold water should flow through the condenser in the opposite direction to the vapour from the boiler.

ie. connect the bottom connector to the cold water supply and take the hot water from the top connector to the drain or back to your storage tank.

There is a sale for professional looking columns with built in condenser on ebay. Don't recall how tall but the design is a tall U shape with the condenser feeds passing through the main column but then the description says about the column part being full of ceramic balls/spheres so its a reflux column and built in leibig condenser.

Maybe thats what Magnu420 is alluding to ?
