Yes, Before doing a gin run I always distil some water to use for reducing the ABV.

Worth mentioning that I normally throw the first 200ml of water away just in case it contains any off flavours picked up from the tubes of my airstill. If i've not done a water run for a while the initial drops can sometimes have a feint off smell, so I think it's good to do this regularly anyway as a way of keeping the still clean.

Doing a water run now, actually! Another thing I've found is that the water doesn't keep. Longer than 2 or 3 weeks and it'll start to smell stagnant. I've tried keeping it in kilner flip top bottles, plastic screw top bottles but the results are always the same, so now I just do a new water run before every batch of gin runs. Will make enough today to use over the coming week (I've got about 8 litres of neutral ready to go).
