I'm so sorry I've not been chatting with you like I used to. It has been a crap few months but I have not forgotten about you and I'll check in whenever I can.
I've still not found any. I think what I will have to do is venture out to the New Forest and see what's around there. Thanks for the tips guys and for the photo Ele. I've not given up yet
Not quite Mash but that will do. I will try it without a mixer and see what I think and how I feel the next day. Thanks for the replies and for opening my eyes to how it's drunk
π I like plums. They make excellent jam. I have been out a bit with the dogs but so far no sloe anything. So I bought a bottle of Gordon's sloe gin. You guys know I'm not a gin drinker but my other half drinks anything due to the Scottish heritage I assume (sorry Ed π), and I actually liked it. I ...
Sorry guys, have been flat out decorating my friend's new place. To my misfortune, she has two left feet for hands...
I've not been out to look for sloes but the sun should be out over the next couple days so will force the dogs to come on some nice country walks with me. If I see something that ...
Thank you so much everyone that's really helpful. I might just have to wait til March to scope out some places and in the meantime, get this guy to pick them for me. I don't fancy poisoning myself just yet
Btw I decided to live dangerously and bit in one of the berries on the 2nd photo. It was really juicy, had a stone inside and tasted more sweet than tart
Aww bummer. Thanks for the replies boys. I have another picture of the flowering one. Definitely has thorns and the leaves look like Blackthorn pics I've seen online but other than roses, I don't really know shrubbery. I should make more of an effort to learn I think
I saw these two bushes out on a walk. Could you please tell me if either could be Blackthorns? The one with fruit is outside ny friend's house in a new built so I have high hopes for that. It seems to be where they end up down south.
Mine wasn't a wash as such but used to make cider with mi grandad when I was little. Off to the fiepd to pick apples on the tractor, run them through a chopper in the garage down into the press in the cellar and into barrels. Only started distilling 2 months ago so the turbo carbon wash is hard to ...
Gin should be ready tomorrow after steeping so we will see. I thought you had good weather up there this week? My other half is from 'up there' and the family says it's good weather near Edinburgh. Might not stretch all the way up though I suppose
Thanks to you all and Gaza's little recipe, I made some orange gin in the Megahome today. Got 3 litres out of it so hopefully it will taste nice in 5 days. Man did that thing heat up the kitchen though. Thank the booze gods for air-conditioning
Oh that's great news Nige! So glad you enjoyed your own brew. Gives me hope for my first gin run today. I don't even like gin but I'm told I will most likely enjoy my own so fingers crossed I'm also drunk tonight
Thanks Myles. I learned that it needs to have no preservatives from what I've read. Seems cheap enough to give it a go. I will do a wash of this next and try it. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated
Thanks for the replies Ed and Gaza. A corn whiskey would be quite something if I could pull that off. Is there a good recipe for one that's on the simple side for simple people?
I'm hoping for some ideas here, being so new to all this I need a bit of help.
I've so far done a turbo wash, kale wash and tomato & lentil one which is the only one left to run. I will have 2 empty 60l fermenters and not quite sure what to do next. I do like jack Daniels whiskey and spiced rum so ...
I know Pomerol is an area in France but never had their wine. Red gives me awful headache, even after a single sip, so I don't partake. The rest also sounds quite iffy
Definitely plum jam but strawberry a close second. Can't stand marmalade or Guinness I'm a Pilsner/no fruit peel kinda girl. You strike me as someone who likes peels and dark beer though
Thanks guys. I have been looking out for T&L in big bags but so far not much luck on getting that. I do have a Costco card though so will have to stop there and see what they have. Don't have a bookers one unfortunately. 25kg might be too much for my little woman spine and I can also spot a grain of ...
I think the subject might give a good clue. I have realised that even for 100l of wash I need lots of sugar. Where do you all get yours? I used tesco and their 5kg bags but my other half tells me that Tesco won't believe me when I say I need 20kg of sugar for making jam  every 2 weeks ...
