Stupid things I did today (facepalm moments..)

Post by 32_16 »

Did a search and didn't find a topic with this title so thought I'd start..

THis morning I got a nice little wooden barrel off shelf - a little 5 litre barrel that I've not used for a while. Thought I'd throw a bourbon into it for a couple of months. Put the funnel in the top, poured about a litre of neutral in and then promptly disinfected the worksurface with a litre of neutral. I had forgotten that the barrel would probably have dried out and was no longer water tight...

Fortunatly it was only a litre of neutral and not something decent...

Facepalm !!!

Many forget that once they've bought their "training barrel".......

It needs to be kept full, possibly with some sulphites to prevent the water going manky..........

You may be lucky if you fill it and soak it in a bucket, and you'd need to try that otherwise it's little more than decorative........

Oops!
I'm guessing that you won't make that mistake again?
I have cocked up and lost much spirit in my time, one way or another.
In my case usually due to clumsiness and breakages.

Yeah, total facepalm moment when it started to leak, I've got a few barrels and this for a few years was my "go to" barrel

It spend yesterday in the bath being filled / refilled and it's now holding water again. Going to leave it for a week and see if it will behave itself next weekend !

A week ago I would have agreed that as a nation we are disgusting and I still believe this to some extent but I am seeing glimmers of hope, I think people are finally beginning to realise we are all in this together and need each other, I am seeing acts of kindness and just a generally better attitude in people, I hope this continues.
I'm not as think as you drunk I am...

Profound and revealing. :)
Being a glass half-full person, I want to agree with you here.
The collective effort does seem to be for the common good, it you ignore the toe-rag chancers out for a quick profit.
And the, "Me first" mentality that some have.
I would like to believe that as a nation, we come out of this with an awful lot more compassion and understanding.

I'd agree with this Maker 👍
There are definitely signs of improvement and actual compassion in some now! Community is coming out a bit more.

Tis a shame all these foreign multi million pound a year Football stars don't think the same.
They are being paid 100 or150 times what a Nurse is paid and they are not even playing????

Here, I blame "the ordinary people" who have idolated the "stars".
These "stars" feel above all others.
So, Linneker is giving up two months salary to the Red Cross?
Have you seen that he takes £1.75 million from the BBC alone?

Sounds like a bit of a publicity stunt to me.

Elecrafter, I am a Rugby Union man so these foreign Socca pansy's are a mistery
to me. They are paid thousand of pounds a day to play Socca a lot don't speak
English, can spell their name or add 2 and 2 and come up with the correct answer.
Therefore if they can not play Socca, what use are they?? A lot of the clubs can
not pay the ground staff etc and have asked the government for help????
Easy answer stop paying these useless and vastly overvalued foreign tossers, then
you can play your real staff.Rant over.
Long live Rugby Union A game for men!! 8-)

You need to check your history gaza, Rugby Union (in England) is played by strong, fat, middle class blokes who have no stamina and can't run........

Where do "they" go for speed and stamina? Erm, ooo, I wonder?

Or even some who are outside my first description, and where they learned their rugby or influences ?

Dunno why, but some names do come to mind. Which ones ?

Wigan, St Helens, Leeds.......

oh why oh why oh why do I think I'm going to be this thread a lot...

Oh, I know - 'cos I'm an idiot...

So, new boiler, cleaned thoroughly, sacrificial run, cleaned again and put away...

Next day I thought "I know - I'll do a stripping run"...

Got the boiler back out of it's box, set it up for filling, started to siphon in, walked away to get the tri clamps etc ready, walked back and saw my wash pouring out the drain hole that I hadn't capped..

Oh for crying out loud....

Lost a couple of litres but to be honest that could have been a LOT worse.... FACEPALM...

You don't have to keep your still in the box it came in. I just sit mine on the
work bench so i can look at it.
Bought me a new pair of wellies off the bay!! There is an "L" in one and an "R"
in the other. Cheeky buggers think i'm stupid, mind you not going far in my
hour, unless I can find a longer bit of string!!
