The Runningman came from my younger years when I was a fanatical road and cross country runner. Done 10 marathons in my time clocking my fastest at the age of 39 2hrs 32 minutes at Glasgow. I took up cycling when my running days ended due to dodgy knees and have been cycling ever since. Im now a cycling fanatic. HA HA HA

It's that age thing RM, at age 40, I sailed across a few oceans single handed, rowed a lot, and was fitter than at any time before or since.
I still have the boat, but hate sailing in small circles.
One of these days I will bid this board adieu, load the boat with illicit booze and sail off into the sunset...

F**k me! just reading this is making me tired...........

My exercise this week has been the repeated opening and closing of the trailer curtains, maxing out on Thursday strapping concrete blocks and closing curtains in a 4 to 6 easterly along the bloody Thames estuary (about an hour's worth of exercise and swearing).....

You have to understand that we now have an entire generation of previous workers, who having been furloughed for a few months, and now think the rest of society should continue to pay them to stay at home. for the "common good".
There is a shit storm a'coming.
If you weren't prepping before, maybe start now?

Yes indeed - I do wonder how many furlough workers will actually "return"

For a variety of reasons.
1. Redundancy. Businesses are using furlough to get rid of people.

2. Quitting work. People furloughed will want to stay home and their new normal doesn't include working.

3. Rebalancing. Workers will decide they don't like the commute and will want to work from home to get the time back.

Someone sharing my household address, who works 4 days a week, is able to work from home via the internet.
Saving £200 a month in commuting costs.
But is suffering a little with cabin fever.
I suspect that she would forgo the saving, for a commute, listening to music, and spending the day in an office full of other folk.
But changes are coming.

I think the reverse furlough people (work 4 days & take a 20% paycut) are getting the raw deal. Not nice at all.

Well today was crunch day. Due to apathy, too much office work, poor weather and shopping as SWMBO is shielding, I have not run since Wednesday. Woke up at 4am to sunshine, spent two hours procrastinating under the bedclothes then went for a run. Not the fastest, but certainly the longest at 15.4km. So now I am back on track at 148km this month.

Well all you "fitness bunnies"? all power to you is what I say.

I always hated the sensation of running (possibly because as a bit of a porker, it felt like an unpleasant jarring sensation), even during my time in the forces.

Swimming and cycling were no problem and both enjoyable, especially plugged in to some music where possible (no waterproof music machinery then).

But these days, I'd give a lot for the opportunity (and motivation) to be able to do someting. Just that the long working days do take it out of me and I'm happy with the weekend just to do a few chores and veg/chill ready for the next visit to "the coalface/treadmill"..........

So those that do/can, brilliant. I'd happily be part of the crowd to support/cheer on in any kind of event, but take part? unlikely.........
