Re: Where I am today

Post by Easydrinker »

I am currently digging myself out of a black hole.
An old and dear friend took advantage of certain lockdown easings to fly to Switzerland and end her life, last week.
I suspected that this would happen.
And I respect her choice.
But the selfish part of me says,'why did I not get a goodbye 'phone call?'
The logical part of me understands.
I shall remember the good times that we shared.

My emotions are a little screwed up right now.

My life continues, and Dignitas clinics are not on my horizon.

The least said in response to this post the better.

Just letting you all know that I may be a little odd in my responses for a few days.
Now, can someone move this thread on?
Something happy, whacky , weird or even normal. :)

Completed it today and picked up some sugar. Cane instead of beet this time, lets see if I can taste any difference.
I would suspect I won't be able to as I have a very unrefined pallete :)
Great, I got my card about 2 years back, we do a bulk shop maybe once a month. We get all our meat, I cure our own bacon & sausages, we buy trays of tinned toms, peas, beans, all sort of things I put up a metal rack in the garage and it's stored in there, a friend laughs says we'll be ok when the zombie's attack...

Bookers have some brilliant offers if you click lucky, & sale items, a few months back I got 25kg bags of sugar for £6. Also fruit & veg, BYGOF's, wines & spirits are the same as any supermarket, and chocs don't get me started on anything chocolate...

Weather is set fair. Off to Worthing today only 45 miles, but a nice sleepy
south coast resort. Fish and chips for lunch and a go in the arcade.
Should do the round trip with 10 gallons as long as I don't light the turbo's
to hard.

I did notice that it's not a free for all everything is cheaper, so it's about carefully selecting what is a good buy.

I will probably stick to sugar and meat but looking forward to having a proper look around.

Stuck a wash on at the weekend with the cane sugar and I was gobsmacked when I opened the bag. The smell of cane sugar vs beet sugar is a million miles away from each other. I didn't know as I hadn't done a side by side before, but I could identify which was which by smell alone straight away. A much more earthy smell to the beet.
Still not convinced I'll taste a difference, but excited to see.

You have to get your head around it, the price you pay, the corner shops stick their markup on top. I love the chocs...KitKats & Mars works out at a stupid price like 35/45p a bar. Take a calculator with you it does help...

Now you have a card you can check Booker online and catch the cut-price bits for that week, their meaty ribs are out of this world, we buy a box every 3 or 4 months just right for the ProQ smoker.

I almost cannot eat chocolate anymore.
There was a time that I could eat half a dozen Mars bars a day. A jar of Nutella goes out of date these days...
May have to try some in a wash, to use it up.
Anyone tried it?

I fear today is not going to be a productive day, my first off for weeks. I was going to get up early and run some neutral low wines for vodka. Woken up by SWIMBO at 3am, I think she has food poisoning as she was ill yesterday and thru the night. Could not sleep, but too early to be making noises in the shed for the neighbours. So came on here for a catchup. Dozed off and got up at 9:30, the shed is a bit of a mess so I thought I would tidy it up and delay the run till the next days off. Found my stash of bottled hopped cider, and wondered how it had conditioned over the last 2 months. I felt smashed after half a pint. Finished tidying up the shed and spotted my corney keg of odin’s rye whisky resting in barrel staves. Just down hill from there, running a batch of gin on the water distiller will be all I get done.

I admire your intentions!
I managed to boil a beer and pitch yeast.
Get a Mead brew going.
Had to give up on a whisky strip, as the gasket on the boier failed.
And it rained almost all day here.
Tomorrow is another day!
Stay positive

I have been hiding from the midges tonight.
Drizzle and 18 degrees is what they were waiting for.
Used the vacuum cleaner to get the first few hundred away, and a damp sponge to deal with the residue.
The windows are now closed, and it is pouring down, so not expecting late-comers, it is finally safe to go to bed.

Do come to Scotland for your "Stay-cation", the wildlife can't wait to meet you!

Stayed by the Canal in Burgee and the A/C in the Hotel was kaput.
As the temp rose so did the mozzies. Romantic weekend? Not funny
as her in doors was unwell as a result.
This was six years ago and annoyed that I can't remember the Hotel
name so I can send her again, if they ain't fixed the A/C.

Can't tuck trousers into socks for the same reason I have been banned
from wearing shorts.
Your head dress do you get the yellow smiley face with it, if so can I
order one with a frowning suntanned face and tight neck. Or better
still a noose on it.
Yep she has annoyed me again. Washed the Bentley and shined her
good and proper. Left her in the driveway and went to Pub. When I
returned she has been out with the mower and showered my nice
clean Bentley in Grass cuttings. I want to plug her hairdryer into a
3 phase electric supply so it blows her hair off when turned on.

Cheers Guys, I actually had a great day yesterday, the still ran beautifully all day, column temp didn’t budge more than +/-0.1°c from 78.2°c all day.

Made some super clean neutral, think I’ve finally have an idea and not just all the gear 😂
