Re: Where I am today
I keep telling myself I’ll get back into it soon, but just seem to be really busy!
That’s the joy of having a house full of kids I guess, anyway I remember on the old site there was a lot of talk about smoking (the food type).
Who’s got a smoker? I’ve just got a Kamado recently done a few pork shoulders and simple stuff but I’m still a novice looking for recipes, so if anyone’s got any tips feel free to share

Re: Where I am today
Home bodged hot and cold smokers here.
The weather went downhill here today.
So after a quick 15 mile bike-ride, I settled for some undercover veg. gardening and a beer mash.
Drowned a rat and freed a shrew from the traps.
Whisky spirit run this evening, not done one for 18 months.
Gave the bees a new box two nights ago, they are busy
Think that I have the Delta variant, but suspect that it is just a cold.
Every day that I wake up is a good one.
Just plugging away and trying to keep smilin'
Robert.

Re: Where I am today
That sounds horrible Mash, get well soon.
I wired up my new 3kw element in my new boiler and plugged in to check how close to 3kw power output it was. It registered system overload 3.9kw so I sent it back for exchange. The exchange element reads 3.45kw output on max. I would have thought an electrical element with 3kw stamped on wouldn't exceed 3kw output or not by much, but I know nothing about electrickery

Mash,
I hate to ask personal questions...
Some of these pickled foods you do...
Were you eating any a few weeks ago?
I pickle food, but if ever in doubt, throw it out.
Just asking
Glad you are on the mend.
Robert.

Re: Where I am today
Mash, I hope you are well on the mend. The other half had something similar a couple of weeks ago and blamed it on a tuna sandwich I got for her. She just found out today one of her mates had the same thing and lost a stone. Apparently her doctor told her it was caused by an airborne virus.Mash wrote: Sun Jun 20, 2021 6:56 pm I have still recovering from food poisoning. 2 weeks ago. That's very interesting 'cos to be honest, we have struggled to identify the cause.Windoe wrote: Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:25 pm

We eat together and eat the same... No one else has had this! (thank heavens).
Did the doctor put a name to it?

Unfortunately not, but it is quite common, https://www.gov.uk/government/collecti ... d-analysis perhaps your better half has some immunity from the virus?Mash wrote: Wed Jun 23, 2021 8:50 amThat's very interesting 'cos to be honest, we have struggled to identify the cause.Windoe wrote: Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:25 pm

Re: Where I am today
Bored with eating strawberries, today I started a wine with them.
I may have to poke & ferment with more yeast, but it all keeps you on your toes.

Re: Where I am today
Joys of working at home every so often mean I have been able to do the spirit run on generations 1, 2 and 3 of my first ever UJSSM. Got a lot of jars to blend tomorrow.
Also stuck the airstill on and ran a batch of the "apple juice" gin from the recipes section but with orange juice instead.
Plus I finally remembered to dry out some yeast for Ice.
All while doing my day job
