AliExpress (or not so express)

Post by Mash »

I had never used AliExpress.
Just placed my first order.
And so far I am not impressed

A week ago I ordered something, and it is still not showing as "shipped" nothing other that "order confirmation"

Is this normal?

You will usually see a note saying its not shipped and will be done in X days, but depends on the shop.
Generally speaking I have found AliExpress generally very good. Most things arrive within 3-4 weeks if they are big or heavy.
If its small and light it will go airmail and a week to10 days seems par for course.
Be aware the "Arrived in Destination Country" Can sometimes mean it has arrived in one of their partner warehouses and often in Belgium, (Note says "Liege Linehaul" and then takes about another week to get to you in the UK.

In all the stuff I have bought from AE the longest was about 8 weeks (only once) the rest 2-3 weeks. You Pay VaT at the time of sale and this speeds it through the UK Customs.
However I was reading from someone, that they spent £140 inc the Vat, and then got an Import Duty and handling fee on top when it arrived in the UK. I did read that if the cost is over £135 (ish) there may be import duty as well. I have yet to experience this.
So if the postage is free on most items, and you have muptiple items, it might pay to split the order to keep it under £135.
Thanks to Brexit we now have to suffer all these new rules, and the Gov't ripping us off at every angle.

I use this tracking service, and find its pretty good ay most parcels, and you can save and name the consignments on the webpage. Handy when its a slow mover!

Thanks chaps.
It's a couple of waffle plates £20. Sort of expected 4 to 6 weeks. But thought the app might show progress. 🤔

Take the app with a pinch of salt. As Ele said 17track is probably the most up to date record of it.
I've always received everything I ordered, it just does take a while sometimes.
I'm not under the affluence of incahol, thinkle only peep I am. Its just the drunker I sit here the longer I get.
