As mentioned on R4 yesterday, it's to do with them being honorary members of the euro organization that puts it on annually.
Equally, member nations have said about Ukraine PM/president (?) making a televised statement thanking other nations for support etc, but that's been ruled out by the organisers as "political" when the rules are explicit about no politics and impartiality.

I absolutely never watch this garbage, but tonight, Jen is insisting.
I have been to Croatia many times, back in my trucking days, and the Croats were always a bit odd, with obvious underlying murderous intentions, (it was at the end of the Bosnia thing) but I have just seen their entry and they appear to be pseudo nazi war criminals, albeit with slight musical skills

I was pressganged into watching because the boss threw a party for about
ten peps. There was one highlight though, the big Amazonian blond
commentator, Wow!! worth the watch.

Have not seen, have not had any aspects of any part of Eurovision related to me.
I have spent my time with cats instead. As Heinleim said, 'how you treat and relate to cats on earth, here, now, will determine your place in heaven'. WSC said, 'cats look down on you, always'. Neither of them, or any one else has I believe commented on any possible benefit from Eurovision.
