I am always tempted by beachcasting, just never got around to it.

Beachcasting.
Now, that is far harder work than fishing from something that floats.
And nowhere near as much fun!

It's not as productive as boat fishing and can be hard work thats true, but I like the contemplative aspect of listening to the waves and looking at the stars on a clear winters night👌. And if your thoughts get interrupted by a fish making an enquiry on your line, what a thrill that is. That feeling never gets old, I love it.

I ferget the term used for fishing in areas with a high tidal range, where you simply bait a line of
hooks at one low water, and check them at the next.
Sporting, no.
Fish on a plate, yes!
Don't knock it untill you have tried it.
If you like fish....

Long-lining its called here, very good way to get fish. You have to cover the baited hooks with sand as you set up otherwise you catch gulls. Gulls can be a problem when the tide ebbs too and then there's the problem of feckin seals. The fish have gone off to spawn now so no fishing till May anyway.

Well here I am 3.30 wide awake, us soft southerners don't normally
have to put up with noise  But this Storm/wind that's blowing
through has kept me and am sure many others awake.
60 to 70 mph gusts are not the norm for us.

For me, long-lining is the 10 or 20 miles of lines set offshore by tuna fishing boats.
And I have encountered these boats mid-ocean, and they are BIG.
Nothing wrong with a slowly braised gull.
Just accept the fishey taste.

 yeah, thats what you call long lining Robert. The commercial jobbies are ridiculously long. The ones used here are 50 metre tops usually. I prefer to catch fish with a rod then you can let the titchy one's go back to get bigger and also release non target fish. My strangest catch so far was a large octopus, one of my mates hooked a plastic bag with a revolver and ammo in it off the pier end.

I have sucked octopi into the toilet of my boat in the past, but only small ones.
Those pics. not yet digitised, so will have to wait for proof.
A gun and ammo sounds a little/lot more sinister!

Busy old day today, ran the wash I made with sugar and a kg of used grains from a 1 gallon experimental beer. I was impressed when I tasted the wash, very tasty and slightly sweet. I ran it with neutral feints to get them used up to top up my neutral low wines, an error! The distillate was wonderful, I should have just kept it separate to drink straight.
While that was running I siphoned off a cider ‘brew your own kit’ to secondary to try an experiment dry hopping it with 1oz of Citra, I will leave that for a week before bottling. I’ve used this kit before and it makes a palatable drink. The last bottles had what looked like black mold spots on the walls, an absolute bitch to clean off but the cider was lovely. I’m not sure if it was some kind of additional fermentation?
After I started a batch of Dangerous Dave’s Dragons blood, My thanks go to @elecrafter for the idea of using an Aldi veg bag. I am using it to use to hold the fruit. I have a starter of K1-1116 yeast on the stir plate to pitch tomorrow. Finally I thought I would try a Woodfordes Nog kit, so that is in the brew fridge at the moment.

50ltrs of Odin’s Rye wash clearing to run sometime in the week.

I will need to run 25 ltrs of rum low wines to clear some space!

Getting stocked up for summer!

Now that is what I call a productive day. Beer, Cider, whisky, Rum and dragon's blood.
Well I have had the day from Hell. My son is in the computer business and according
to him, my lack of skill and general distrust and hate of them is letting the side down.
He has built me a new one, a smart and flashing lights singing and dancing one.
I hate it, what was wrong with my old knackered slow one. No lights on the keyboard
or letters. Locked myself out of here and I was not a happy camper. So I made an
espresso and poured a large Date & Vanilla Rum and now chill. 8-) :D

I tried explaining to some younger friends today, that just because their phone had made a noise. they did not have to respond.
Hell in a handcart.
That's where we are going.

Today, well yesterday now, I finally posted my drivers licence back to the DVLA.
I stopped driving for medical reasons, back in November, but actually have found it very hard to surrender my 40 odd year old clean paper permit.
It is now done, and hopefully, I will get it back next December.
A real watershed moment.

Is that a glass of Rum Jenny?
Watched my beloved ENGLAND union team today :x :(
We got duffed again, got 'em down to 13 men, still lost.
I had a Peroni Beer in one hand and a large Date & 'nana
Rum in the other. Not bad for someone who should not be
drinking anymore, didn't help we got shagged!
Hope Billy Boy is okay, he took one for the team. :D

It is only a game mate!
I couldn't care a flying fig.
Really, spectator sport leaves me very cold.
There is other shit in the world to care about.
Birds singing, and insects flying being a starter?

Good girl, I am working on a new spicy Gin recipe. A pal of mine loves Cinnamon
and has set me a challenge. Will post you a recipe shortly.
ED this is more than a game, it's not Socca it's Union and although I only watch
now, at the age of 60 its best, I played for Kingston until into my early forties
and have great memories of games, tours and friends who played.
So to me it is an occasion and to visit Twickenham is like a religious Pilgrimage.
All washed down with a few pints of the black stuff.

Think you're right Gaza, you're much better off with rugby! Football causes far too many problems in this neck of the woods :(
