I used to run an Alcohol door slammer in the 9.90 class
at the Pod. I wish I knew then what I know now. All we
could buy was E85. now I can produce 94% for £1 per ltr.
Needed 18ltrs for a run though.

Can one obtain and ethanol fuel licence in the UK?
Like you have a license for your other products?
Think Mad Max.
Robert.
I'm just thinking along the "just incase" lines, Robert.
If by some unknown twist of fate, an Officer of the law happened upon my activities one day, i could always say "sure thats just fuel, Officer, heres my permit, i trust everything is in order?"
I'm not gonna pay hundreds per year for it, but if it was a 20 quid admin fee or some nonsense it could be worth it.
Long, long ago In a galaxy far,far away, I recall someone filling a bookshelf with anything found in a charity shop that pertained to alcohol used as fuel.
They claimed the bookshelf was above "the gear".
Just sayin'.
Robert.

What a great idea for people like us, who would then have an instant reference for all the fuel we make.

As I understand it, for fuels, you do indeed need to be registered - after all, both alcohol and road fuels are excise goods.
Apparently (well last time I read some stuff about it), registration is so that the exchequer can levy the 10 pence per litre excise duty on home produced fuels.
As we're all aware, potable alcohol excise duty is a hell of a lot higher. Plus, while it's a "food" product, it's considered a luxury product hence it also attracts VAT, which would be fine if it wasn't taxation of something that's already taxed etc.........
But that's more of a political issue so won't comment further.
As for the bible thing in the thread title, I don't believe stuff just because it's in a book or newspaper. I like to understand the motivation behind the book/paper etc. Hence I'm a very cynical atheist........
