If you have an old steel framed mountain bike,a kit off the bay £200
1000watt. 48v 17amp battery £240. Should give you 30mph and
throttle only 25 miles Pedal assist 50 miles.
Key is best battery and controller for best result. Thats from my
buddie.
His high powered BICYCLE???? which I think is 8000 watts, does
0-60mph in5 secs that is .7 of a sec slower than my 4 wheel drive
603 bhp Bentley!!!

It's all very interesting this ebike stuff. I read online a few days back that Max Biaggi broke 11 records on an e-motor bike. I'm also getting interested in e-foils too. There is a company in Perth Australia that makes an electrick jet ski foiler. A hydrofoil lifts the hull out of the water so there is less drag which means more speed and less power needed :D . A foil works like an airplane wing in essence.

Think bike is likely to be next year. It will be a turbo nutter bathturd.

I get the feeling disc brakes are important, so I ought to look for a new donor bike.

Are there any other tips from your mate gaza?

Would like to do 30mph with a 60 miles range.. Will I need a trailer for the battery?

1500w motor and 52volt battery on rear mounted motor. Still a kit
buy battery separate you will be amazed how small. heavy but small.
That will see you thru the speed limit. I have done just over 30mph
on his commuter bike, as below, and it's fun and fast.
There is a guy selling custom built very nice 40mph ready built £1600
a pop. That is cheap.A good new suspension bike will cost you over half
that.

My understanding is that most e-bike tweakers forget about the slowing down or stopping part.
Your old rubber brake pull things are not going to cope.
You need disc brakes.
I bought an e-bike last night.
You tube abounds with vids. of how to hack the speed and power limits for it.

Nice one ED what did you buy. Right about the brakes,
the big boys run twins on the front a la motor bike.

I bought this.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143726033842
The seller had a flash sale last night and I paid £652, chump change for a complete e-bike,
that has mostly very good reviews.
Not too sexy, but then neither is the car that I can now no longer drive!
And I doubt that adding a cargo trailer of mole traps behind will make it look better!
It should do what I want, I haven't cycled for 20 years, longer maybe.
I can always trade up.
Living in the middle of no-where, I need a quick plan B.

Excellent plan, let's be honest you never get these things absolutely right first time.
As a kid I was a bike tinkerer and that never left me. The nice thing about these is they can easily be tweaked / improved / extended.

Nice one eED. 👍

Meh, that one fell through, the seller claiming that I was in a too remote location for delivery.
Extra delivery payment scam maybe?
Anyway, I got my money back last night, one reason for using eBay and paypal.
The next best seller price is £100 more.
I have messaged, asking for confirmation that they will deliver to my post code, before placing the order.
The good news is that I should not be fretting.
Heard back from the Secretary of my local community group* this morning, and am assured that I will get an e-bike grant for total cost up to £1000.
Free e-bike.
Whoo hoo!
Gives me someting to smile about.

*My community some-how brow beat a German, (I think), energy company into paying us funds for 'Green' stuff, in return for allowing them to site some wind turbines on the nearest hill.

Anyone looking for an electric version motorbike, take a look at the Delfast 2.0.
It reminds me of a BSA Bantam.
But, I currently live in La,la land.

It does seem there is a intersection of price at £2500 where ebike and emotorcycles both exist.

I was thinking of "blending" the tech. Taking the best bits of each. Keep it pedal bike looking (for the law) with pedals (fs1e) but adopting a comfy seat and heavier build for 30/40 mph.

No copper is going to be able to tell on the side of the road. Simple test will be "pedals = push bike". If you build it, he cannot look it up by type, more power will help with towing - have you got any hills where you are?

Think of it another project and a bit of fun, not a car alternative.

I reckon a cargo bike has opportunity to be sparked up.

Sadly Mash just 250w 15 mph legal eagle. You need at least 500w
or you will struggle with hills.

If you turn an e-bike on, and lift the back wheel, and twist or blip the throttle, the onboard computer will show you equivalent mph.
I suspect Mr. Plod is aware of that. I am.
