Had the first Magpie of the year in the Larsen trap today.
The Magpie acting as bait, itself caught in the Clam shell trap two days ago proving irresistable.
Had another one visit later, so maybe more tomorrow?
Bottled more beer, added Bicarb to the latest neutral wash.
Finally ordered some bottle storage crates.
I must get some pics posted of the piggies, they no longer look like cute little piggies, but more like meat!
Finally got paid for the last moles trapped of the season.
The sun shone, the veggies are growing and the fruit trees are in blossom.
Life ain't too bad. :D

Blimey I was only wondering this morning, if you ever ordered any crates [as I was lugging mind up the stairs].

What do you bate your clam trap with - Once I get my first magpie, I am away, but the first one is always the hardest.
I have tried the artificial pigeon eggs and I have tried Dave our decoy magpie. Neither seemed to pull them in.

i use a bunch of hay or straw and 3 hen/duck eggs, made to look as natural as.
Have 3 captive 'pies at the moment, as I know people looking for call birds, should be collected tomorrow,
Mine don't call, they are staying at the Magpie Sheraton, all food/water and mod cons.
I don't do FBook and wouldn't know how, but there is a Corvid Exchange group that deal with call birds and their legal exchange.
Not I, but we have used it.

Crates were delivered next day,I went for the 20's and to my surprise, one of of my regular bottle sizes fits and stacks.
Need to drink another hundred bottles of that if I can, but the homebrew is coming good, so it may take a whole summer of buying in the odd beer before I am sorted and tidy.

Must be a local price, its 49p here, but it is Tate and Lyle. So I had a 'few'. Still a good price.

Munson rings and brackets turned up today for my wall mounted carbon filter build. Just waiting on the copperware now, should be here tomorrow.

Just set the T500 up and filled with a wash. Will be up early tomorrow morning (6am) when the wife gets up for work. Bless her, she will even switch it on for me while I'm dragging myself out of bed after repeated shouts.

Just sat here now debating whether or not to make another wash.

Why is that then?
Are you jumping on the wagon and taking the pledge? :)

Heading to London in a few hours, to meet up with the wife and kids for a fun weekend together (plus it’s the wife’s birthday).

Is it wrong that all I can think of, is will I get the chance to buy a sieve and some threaded bar?

Haha. The Wagon ??, never. Didn't end up making it though. Started it off early this morning while my first of two stripping runs was heating up. Copper bits and pieces didn't turn up though. Oh well, there is always tomorrow,

Once they are stripped you can leave them for a dogs age.
I hate to leave washes laying around once fermented out.
They can get contaminated by that ugly white thing whose name I forget, {gaza, don't go there!}, but Mash could rattle off.

Oh, and I finally learned the name of the black mould that covers my domicile and Bond Houses hereabouts, Torula Fungus.

Went to OriGINs gin festival in Glasgow today. Was interesting to taste different flavours etc. Had a wee chat with the girl that has started up Badvo distillery in Pitlochry. Only uses locally foraged botanicals but they all seem to buy in their neutral and just compound.

A lot of these local "craft" gins start life in Birmingham or somewhere.
Marketing shite.
Sad, innit?

Very succinct, to the point and very true.
