I am at my wits end.
Does anyone know where I can purchase a monoboc kitchen tap,
with washers and not b#r$t3d ceramic valves, that are utter utter shite.
Better now

I don't think you can.
It's called progress . . . . they can charge shitloads for a new ceramic cartridge instead of 20p for a new washer!
A pair of new cartridges(hot & cold) usually costs as much as a complete new tap but a new tap costs £4 million (+ vat) for a plumber to come and fit.
Catch twenty two!!!

Exactly. I abhor throwing all the taps & fittings out and starting again.

At the end of the day, you just have to be grateful that you can do-it-yourself . . . . . . . . . and save £4 million (+vat)!

My kitchen mixer tap has reached the point that if you turn on, hot or cold, too full/fast,. the mixer head flies off, and you have a fountain, cascading from the ceiling.
It should be higher on my list of priorities as it happened 4 times today!

At the end of the day on the other hand, it sounds like you are in urgent need of the
£4 million(+vat) experience!

We had to get a new shower tap/mixer about 2 years back. The original had rubber washer valves in the taps, but the replacement has ceramic cartridges.
Next door works at a plumbing merchant, he said that we shouldn't be turning them off too hard as that causes wear on the sealing surface much quicker.......... And yes, the ceramic cartridge tap does open/close/on/off much quicker and more accurately, it doesn't need a bit of extra "off pressure" like the original version did.........

Did he also mention that they quack up really quacking quickly and have to be quacking replaced. The only quacking people who benefit are the quacking merchants and the quacking plumbers. Completely quackerz.

My new tap arrives Thursday.
Hallelujah!
The current one has caused much swear-words in the past week.
I do rue the fact that my tap seat re-grinding tool has been out evolved, but hey, according to R.E.M. we put a man on the moon!
Maybe not very carbon neutral, but we can now F*** this planet and find a new one?....

Reassuring to know that your local Wickes provide customer toilets . . . . . always handy if you get caught short in-store!

I am still stuck...
A) buy a Good brand tap preferably with washers, that has spares available.
B) reengineer the sink to take proper taps
C) fit shite and expect to replace

Well after quite some time I have found one... Well two.
BRISTAN do a Regency and Kingsberry mono kitchen tap. Made with washers and o rings, both of which they stock as spares.
I have ordered one... Let's see.
