Wayback Machine

Post by Easydrinker »

I just have to share this.
A new discovery to me tonight.
Sorry, if to you, it is old hat. :)

I knew that many years ago, I had bookmarked a webpage, and tonight I wanted to re-read it.
It Isn't there anymore, it was was one of old Harry's, and he and his library and legacy are sadly gone.

I spent some time searching the webs and found the following link.
https://www.lifewire.com/wayback-machine-3481829

All I had to do was copy and paste the dead url, and Voila! I could read what was seemingly gone.
F'inning brilliant!

I will leave you all to discover quite what the link opens up and does.

I am going back now to make a modest donation, seriously impressed.

Robert.

I use the waybackmachine frequently and have done so for several years. It isn’t a complete resource but very a very useful tool.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

If it’s broken, it might be my fault, is my responsibility and there is even a slight chance I can fix it 😳

Have you managed to find a way to access the CONTENT of Harry's Library. I have been trying unsuccessfully for several years.
I was hoping that someone has a clone of the website, or made a copy of the content. I wish I had as I used to use it a lot.

Hey myles,
I have just had a quick mess around in Wayback Machine and found this

http://web.archive.org/web/201410220432 ... epage.html

Not all of the links in there work, it seems to give access to the old library archive, but not the (then) new site library.
If you have a decent internet connection, it may be worth trawling through all 44 separate captures to see if any of them are better
