Took the wife's car for its MOT yesterday, and it failed on 2 items.....

#1...Front washer pressure????? the washer sprays water onto the screen but the guy said the pressure was too low??? fit new pump £8.

#2...The towbar ball obstructed the rear plate????... to make the car legal I have to take off the ball, for the retest....and fit it when required for towing the trailer....

What's the phase??? "Stop the smegging world I what to get off".... :( :(

Ice.

Yes tempers are running high round here. Camera wires snipped and worse, I mean better,
slogans in car windows and just a general hate for the man.

I think Rodent is to polite for that , I was thinking more of the 'C' word.
The most annoying thing for us about this is. End of my road (50yrds)
and turn left and you are outside the new zone. We have a 1998
Mercedes CLK 320 Cabriolet with 62000 miles on it and its in unmarked
condition, but no compliant. As a result it is now worth 20 B&h.

Meh! private vehicle MOT is a doddle (relatively). Commercial vehicles need one, 1 year from initial registration (no 3 years grace period etc), plus any trailer pulled commercial requires a separate MOT certification.

And there's none of that "advisory" stuff, because any failures of either vehicles or trailers is a negative mark on the operators "O license", which affects (potentially) how many/what type/etc vehicles can be used by a business. Plus any negative marks can cause the vehicles of an operator to get pulled for inspection by DVSA/Police more often (with the added expense to the operator), as the use a traffic light system that's ANPR controlled (excludes vehicles for Scaffolding as they have a rep for overloading and insecure loads etc, so they often get pulled/inspected irrespective, to make sure that they're below the published limits).

If course, the increased use of DVSA/Police has nothing to do with DVSA not receiving any government funding. No couldn't possibly be..........

And no, we're not angels or perfect, but transport as a sector has a very good reputation for safety when the distances travelled are compared.

They go for us more, seemingly because we're easy targets..........

If you drive you are an easy target full stop.
Hgv or towing even more so.

But would we give it up?
