Wetherspoons, Lloyds Pharmacy and Iceland are just some of the regular high street stores that confirmed they will be closing certain doors for good and now Wilko has announced the same.
Is Jeff bezos taking over the world?

As the issue is often price and convenience, I'd say yes though whether that's the actual intention is anyone's guess

Yes they are. Fortunatly not in my local high street. In fact there is a waiting list for any retail space available. Even my local newspaper/sweetie shop has upgraded to a larger shop shop. Proprietor told me she had been waiting to 'upgrade' for 3 years.
I have to say many chains would not thrive in a frugal environment. They can't sell unless its a credit sale or a trivial amount that can afford to be wasted. For far too long the business model has been 'there are others out there doing this, so we can do it too', point is, they maybe were not making a lot of money, maybe their borrowing was less or the financial gearing was lower.
If Wetherspoons initially found/created a pub where previously there was not the business or profit level to support one, what a surprise, when 3 pensioners cannot afford an afternoon jollies and oops there is no longer the operating margin that was assumed.
If the drivel stopped appearing on the high street what was left would be better supported with an ongoing trade. You want endless choice? Can wait a day, not essential yes one for Ms Bezos can have it.
Support what you NEED LOCALLY.

Yes indeed. I think we are going to have to support what we want or lose it.
Computing and the Internet have created great wealth, but at what cost?

Heres a heads up for anyone who lives near a Sainsbury. They have 5kgs of sugar for £3.20 at present. A real snip. Last time they had it, it was £3.75.

Yup, that's where I've been getting mine recently. I just get 2 or 3 "slabs" (15kg in a slab) when we do a Costco run..........

I always think the 15kg sacks should be cheaper and they never are? Why?

I saw an advert from, I think, British sugar recently.
1 tonne of sugar for £1000, a whole pound a kilo at bulk quantities.

So went to Sainsburys yesterday morning. Some ungrateful B has taken my 5 x 5kg of sugar. Come on own up!! No Costco here in N.Ireland So checked my stocks 43kg Oh ok no need for more. Was gonna try a 100l batch of TTFV for a base. All I need is time and to get my 50l of mollasses rum through the new 50l beer keg still, run the 40l of corn mash and finish 20l of 3rd gen cornflake whiskey through the 750w water purifier and SS airstill. Time is the killer. Time I retired and started a men's shed. Merry Xmas stay safe and chill.

Yes. Merry Christmas to every one, excluding sugar robbing bastards.
Have just pitched 2 x 25 litre washes to produce nuetral for my LDGin.
I have some new toys to play with on Christmas Day, an Inkbird tc308s, a Mangrove jack heat pad and some botanicals to experiment with in my AS.
Yes, let's all have a good holiday to play with our toys.
