Getting Older

I had what some may consider a significant birthday a few weeks ago.
I told my family that it was no big deal, and that surprise visits and a party were not welcome.
I celebrated with an Indian take out with a couple of friends.
I admit to drinking a bottle of champers during the day.
I felt no different the next day, or week, or two.
However, yesterday i bought tickets to a gig for this Saturday.
I was invited to buy a Senior Citizen concession ticket for myself!
Well really!
It was like being hit in the face with a cold fish.
I really wasn't going to, indignant, then realised that the discount equated to the "service charge" levied on top of the ticket cost, and thought "F*** it", getting older seems to have some perks.
I am not sure that I will manage another 15 years to qualify for a free TV license, and there are no local busses to get a free pass for in the future.
It did burst my bubble somewhat.
Robert.
