I just twat 'em with a whacker and pour bleach
down the sink where the little buggers breed.

Jacquie, would hanging up a filter paper with some Lavender oil on it be enough to repell fruit flies in a small brew-shed then?

It would deter them most strong smelling herbs will - they are the only plants I grow that don't get attacked by pests - but mint citronella rosemary lavender basil and mint are the ones I use indoors to keep out flies. If you mix lemon ginger and lavender oil or just boil up a load of strong herbs and make into a spray, spray around windows and doors and dip ribbons (I'm a girl, filter papers would work) in and hang in windows and doorways should help and make it smell nice too. Although it deters not kills so you might want to be more brutal and zap em, any that are stoopid enough to get past my herb barriers are subject to a death sentence - usually hairspray they stiffen slowly as it dries and glide to the ground

Hairspray don't use it, but it sounds great. Being cruel
to fruit flies is not nasty and does not detract from your
life span, bit like driving my Jag quickly.
So the more cruel the better, the faster the better.

hairspray and lighter even more fun but not round the spirit, it might detract from your lifespan in a serious way - see if nursey has any when she's finished helping you recover from her absence

So no G'n'T's whilst setting light to hairspray!!
My dear old Nanna got hairspray and Raljex mixed
up once, never seen a 90 Y.O. move that fast B4

Deodorant and a lighter works too. Setting light to ribbons nearly shortened my life span years ago.
