Hi everyone. Hope everyone is good and getting ready for festive season. :)

Wanted to ask if some of you bought anything from AliExpress. I am looking to buy one of these
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/23vO3Mjq and my biggest concern is about customs. Will I need to pay anything extra and of course I dont want to attract any attention. Cheers for answers!

Others here have bought from aliexpress and I don't recall any bad reviews, but yes, you are likely to get hit for customs import duty so should factor it in and no, they don't mind you buying water distillation gear.

There is one particular seller/maker that gets good reviews. Someone will come along and say who. My memory isn't finding it just now.

I buy a LOT of stuff from Aliexpress, Only been clobbered for import duty once in 4 years on a £130 massive led light fitting.
If its a very expensive product just contact the seller and confirm he will be declaring $10 or GIFT.

You'll have no bother with Distillex mate.

I'm currently waiting on my 4th order from them. I paid a bloody fortune for my 1st still from Mile Hi, in the US and can't tell the difference.

Pretty certain you'll get hit for the old VAT too.

What do you mean by this: "Pretty certain you'll get hit for the old VAT too." Thanks in advance.

You'll probably get a letter from Royal Fail stating that they've a package for you and you need to call in to pay the 20% vat, before they'll release it to you.

I have never used Aliexpress,
I know how other sites work and what, any charges are.
Maybe, I need to step away from my cave a little more often?
Ug :)

That will slip straight past my good buddy, Leatherman, I suspect.

My own logic says to buy any item from the EU,that you may need, now,
Because they will cost more very soon.

Robert.

Interested and watching this one, because all my kit (off the shelf stuff) has been supplied locally (UK) but I'm still looking and thinking on a column for the milk can I got off Brian........

I still can't make my mind up, because while it would be nice to have a bubble plate column for the option to try making stuff from scratch, I only really need a packed column for azeotrope, maybe a pot "column" for stripping full batches.

Sure I don't mind paying the dollar, but I still prefer reliable sellers etc.........

might be someone in here that could make you one if you want?
or If you want to make your own a CCVM is an easy build and is a packed column and potty in one...

I can't promise you that you won't get addicted to building though. :)
